Taipei, May 29th, 2006 — Silicon Integrated Systems (SiS) is enthusiastic about working with AMD (NYSE: AMD) to help develop and support socket AM2 platforms. SiS and AMD value cooperation and the ability to work together on innovative technologies while building a close relationship. SiS is now poised to release a full line of solutions for the socket AM2 platform.

Intel Launching Itanium 2 at Computex

The launch of Intel's dual-core Itanium 2 processors, dubbed "Montecito," is now set to happen in the week of Computex, which will take place in Taipei June 6-10, according to sources. Intel expects the new dual-core CPUs, with mass production slated for July, will account for half of its overall server-use Itanium CPU shipments by the end of the third quarter, the sources cited the chip giant's roadmap as indicating.

Dell fixes 2007WFP

If you own one of these bad boys and have been having the banding issues that has been popping up here and there you might want to check out the planned fix.

The problem--which appears to be impacting only the $459 2007WFP--causes noticeable banding lines to appear where there should be smooth transitions from a light to darker color. Dell's Philip Ventimiglia, corporate director of displays marketing, says the issue stems from the monitor's active color management chip, which lets you choose from one of three viewing modes: desktop, multimedia, and gaming.

If your FPS is lagging but you don’t have a ton of money to drop into a new video card, why not take a look at the HIS X1800 GTO. The card looks to be a descent performer for the money, so read on.

After looking at Connect3D's X1800GTO, it's HIS' turn with their new X1800GTO Turbo. This card features HIS' brand new IceQ3 cooling solution and comes overclocked right out of the box. Being a part of HIS' Turbo line this card has received a default overclocked speed of 520MHz core with the memory speed remaining the same.

ECS 945G-M3

The guys over at DriverHeaven have the first Viiv platform motherboard from ECS up on the bench. Also, this is the first ECS product they have ever reviewed.

We have heard a lot about Intel’s Viiv for a while now however it’s taken quite some time for Viiv certified products to reach retail in any reasonable numbers. The motherboard we have to review today is ECS’s first take on the Viiv platform. For most manufacturers this would mean providing the basic specifications required to be able to add Viiv logos to their boxes, however this is certainly not so in the case of ECS.

Asus EN7900GT TOP/2DHT/256M/A

PCStats takes a good hard look at what they feel is a nearly perfect video card solution from Nvidia. If you are into high end components, you’ll certainly love this one.

The 256MB Asus EN7900GT TOP/2DHT/256M/A videocard is compatible only with PCI Express x16 slots so that means AGP users needs to get their fix elsewhere. The game comes with a large software bundle which includes a full copy of King Kong, two DVI to analog converters, a component output cable and a six pin molex power connector should your power supply not natively support the new generation of high powered videocards.

Corsair Twin2X2048-6400C4

With the launch of AM2 architecture, AMD has finally made a foray into the DDR2 line. If you are thinking of upgrading that box be sure to get a look at this fine product from Corsair. These bad boys are supposedly very overclocker friendly with the addition of a new technology.

To make things even sweeter, Corsair and nVIDIA have been working together to create a new memory standard dubbed EPP which stands for "Enhanced Performance Profiles". When used in a compatible motherboard, EPP helps the system automatically overclock the memory and tighten up timings to improve performance.

If you are in the market for a good budget video solution you should certainly take the time to check out NV News and their take on the MSI NX7600GT.

The newest generation of graphics processors from nVidia is very exciting. For those who cannot afford to upgrade to the latest and greatest 7900 series, MSI has produced an excellent budget card in the NX7600GT that can handle most anything you can throw at it. When the MSI card showed up on my doorstep, I laughed, I cried, I benchmarked.

I find I often cry as well when new hardware shows up.

Apple Gets Owned

It looks like Apple’s attempt to get their hands on documents that would help uncover the identity of a employee who leaked information about an unreleased product has been thwarted.

Apple Computer suffered a setback in its effort to plug an internal leak, after a state appeals court ruled that the computer maker can't immediately get its hands on records of who may have contacted an Apple enthusiast site with details on an unreleased product.

I hear there were 5 fans that were just hammering away at the F5 key to get this information. Wait a minute, are there even 5 Mac owners out there!?
