Intel Core 2 Duo E8600 + LN2 = 6.25GHz

You know, we just can’t get enough of these LN2 overclocking speed runs. Yeah, we know the voltage had to be cranked up and it took a lot of LN2 but we don’t care, it is cool as hell (pun intended) seeing an E8600 hit 6.25GHz. You’ll need a translator for the original page but the pics are universal. Thanks to Marcus P. for the link.

With liquid nitrogen trend, the original 3.3 GHz on the E8600 Chao 6.25 GHz (625x10) voltage of 1.936 V, overclocking a high rate of about 87 percent.

Band Leaks Track to BitTorrent, Blames Pirates

Yaar! Those stinking pirates are everywhere! Not only are they stealing music from bands, they are forcing them to make statements to the press condemning th…wait…what’s that you say? The band manager leaked the song? Oops. Oh well, a very important lesson was learned here today…plotting a publicity stunt while you are stoned is bad.

When we reported about the leak of a BuckCherry track last week, and specifically the band’s response to it, we hinted that this could be a covert form of self-promotion. Indeed, after a few days of research we found out that the track wasn’t leaked by pirates, but by Josh Klemme, the manager of the band.

Facebook To Use Intel Hardware

A deal was struck today between Intel and Facebook that has the social networking site using Intel servers while the CPU giant serves in an advisory role to Facebook.

Facebook has chosen to use Intel's Xeon 5400 processor-based servers to deal with its hardware and software demands. Additionally, the two companies have signed an agreement so that Intel can continue to assess how Facebook can stay stable and improve performance.

There are dozens of [H] exclusive deals on this page ranging from Xbox 360 consoles for $169.99 to massive 52” 1080P LG HDTVs for $1,699.99 but I think the Deal of the Day has to be this Athlon 64 X2 5000+ bundled with 2GB of OCZ Platinum PC6400 DDR2 for $79.99. Don’t agree with my choice for DotD? Well, there are dozens of other deals to choose from! Make sure you enter to win one of 100 computers while you are there.

AIAS President: 'Game Reviewers Are Lazy'

So the president of the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences says that “game reviewers are lazy.” Do you agree? How many times have you played a game that reviewers raved about only to be sorely disappointed after you bought it?

"My pet peeve is that game reviewers are lazy," he said. "Not all, but in terms of the reviews [something like] 'This game isn't as good because let's compare it to that game over there and that game was great.' Who gives a, you know, bleep?" "How can you review a game, how can you give a comment about a game like Grand Theft Auto IV, that has 40-plus hours or more of gameplay, if you've only spent 2 1/2 to 3 hours playing it?"

Back when we used to do them, our game reviews were done on retail games and played start to finish by 3 separate reviewers with three separate conclusions. All artwork and logos were done in house and no canned screenshots were used unless they were used for comparison to actual game play footage and so on. In-depth reviews like that are underappreciated in the industry and the rush to be “first” only complicates matters further. In other words, they want a quick and dirty “10” yet they compain about “laziness” in the industry. You can’t have both, can you?

Studios Say Dark Knight Thwarted Pirates?

I’m not sure where the L.A. Times got their information, but they are claiming that the latest Batman movie thwarted pirates for 36 hours and movie execs consider that a success. I suppose no one should tell them that every pirate site on the planet was streaming the movie on day one (some the night before) and the movie still raked in record breaking numbers.

Warner Bros. executives said the extra vigilance paid off, helping to prevent camcorded copies of the reported $180-million film from reaching Internet file-sharing sites for about 38 hours. Although that doesn't sound like much progress, it was enough time to keep bootleg DVDs off the street.
