Mark Cuban Fined For Twitter Remarks

Mark Cuban was fined $25,000 for remarks he made on Twitter about the way his team was treated during a recent game. The NBA didn’t seem to like those comments and slapped him with the fine.

Mark Cuban, the outspoken owner of the Dallas Mavericks, is apparently just as frank on Twitter as he is courtside at basketball games. The NBA fined Cuban $25,000 on Sunday for a complaint that he tweeted about the refereeing of his team's 103-101 loss to Denver.

Facebook Movie Moving Ahead?

Like many of you, I’m a Facebook user and I like to read funny Facebook related stories as much as you guys do...but a movie about Facebook? Who would watch that?

The movie, as you may recall, is spearheaded by West Wing creator Aaron Sorkin and is reportedly based on a book by Bringing Down the House author Ben Mezrich, known for scandalous tales of ambition and temptation set at elite universities. That's a fine match for Facebook, which was founded by Mark Zuckerberg and some of his friends while they were all undergraduates at Harvard.

HP, Lenovo and Dell Get An E-Waste Penalty Point

Greenpeace has put out an updated guide to greener electronics that bashes HP, Lenovo and Dell over the head pretty hard for not cleaning up their act environmentally. Oddly enough, although Nintendo is dead last on the list (again) and makes more consoles than any other company on the planet, they were not even mentioned in the article.

HP, Lenovo and Dell had promised to eliminate vinyl plastic (PVC) and brominated flame retardants (BFRs) from their products by the end of 2009. Now they've told us that they won't make it this year. The phase-out of toxic substances is an urgent priority to help tackle the growing tide of e-waste. Still, producers only go green when they feel public and consumer pressure to do so. That's why we campaign.

10 of the World's Smallest Gadgets

If this would have been our list of the ten smallest gadgets in the world, we would have stacked up 18 of those little hard drives and shot the world’s smallest hole in them using the world’s smallest pistol.

Conficker Advice of the Day

The Associate Press says "Don’t fret about Conficker." The article says that most everyday users will not even know they are infected…and then offers this awesome bit of advice:

The best remedy is to have a friend — whose computer is not infected — download a removal tool from Microsoft or one of the antivirus vendors. Then that person should e-mail the tool to you.

Yeah, like opening every attachment sent to you by friends didn’t get you in this situation in the first place.

Funny Picture of The Day

While you and I are smart enough to realize that spending $0.42 to send a bill for $0.42 to someone is a waste of time from the get go, not all companies are that smart. Not counting the postage, just look at the picture below and then factor in the paper, envelope, man-hours and resources it took to process that payment and you can’t help but laugh at a company that sends you a bill like that. Thanks to Izzy R. for this one.

Man Kills Wife For Playing GTA

Some old guy killed his wife for playing too much GTA. I know, I know, the first thing that came to your mind was "please let it be Jack Thompson." Don’t feel bad, I was hoping the same thing too.

He would play on the computer until midnight, after which Ms Cannom would take over, regularly staying up until five or six in the morning, Lincoln Crown Court was told. "Carol quickly became hooked. He was very unhappy about the amount of time she was playing on the PlayStation."
