White House Uses Chain Mail to Counter Critics

Now here is a brilliant idea. The White House telling people to mass forward chain letters about health care reform. Honestly, who cares what the topic is or what politician it comes from, none of us need any more crap in our e-mail…especially from the government.

The White House is trying to counter health care criticism that's circulating on the Internet by asking supporters to forward a pro-overhaul chain e-mail. It's the administration's latest attempt to regain control of the health care debate.

On2 Shareholders Suing Over Google Deal

Isn’t something like this normally cleared with shareholders before you sell your company to Google?

On2 investors have filed separate lawsuits in New York and Delaware, claiming the buyout announced last week undervalues On2 and benefits On2 executives, board members and employees at the expense of regular investors.

Is a Fair P2P Trial Possible?

TorrentFreak wants to know if, given the results of the last two high profile file sharing cases, it is even possible to get a fair P2P trial? I have wondered the same thing myself but the other big question is this…how do regular people sitting on a jury return $80k per song judgments?

On one side, you have the defendant, who often has no resources at all, and on the other, the multi-billion dollar entertainment industry. In such cases, the law should win out, but given such a drastic mismatch, is a fair trial even possible?

Opera 10 Beta 3 Is Now Available

After more than 10 million test runs and ample user feedback, Opera 10 is now available in its third beta version from Performance and stability were prioritized in beta 3, with improvements to Opera Turbo, a compression tool for faster surfing, and refinements to the overall look and feel of the previous Opera 10 betas.

If Wolfenstein Beats Madden, It’s Free

If you are on Twitter and you are following Raven Software’s Manveer Heir you probably already know about this strange offer. Manveer says that if the new version of Wolfenstein outsells Madden 10, he will pay for your copy of the game (if you are following him on Twitter). Either this guy is planning on a huge bonus for the game doing well or he has absolutely no confidence in Wolfenstein selling well.

Here's the deal folks: if Wolfenstein outsells Madden 10 in August I will personally pay for your copy (keep your receipt) - SPREAD THE WORD

NASA Can't Keep Up With Killer Asteroids

I can think of a lot of places to skimp on funding but the program in charge of tracking killer asteroids isn’t one of them. Someone call Bruce Willis and Ben Affleck, we might need them for real this time.

Although Congress assigned the space agency this mission four years ago, the National Academy of Sciences says it never gave NASA money to build the necessary telescopes.

Best Buy $9.99 TV Was Too Good To Be True

You know that 52" Samsung LCD TV for $9.99 Best Buy had on sale this week? Yeah, it was a typo. Those of you holding your breath for Best Buy to "honor the deal" are pretty much SOL.

Best Buy, based in Richfield, Minn., said it has corrected an online pricing error and will not honor the incorrect price. Orders made Wednesday morning at the incorrect price will be canceled and customers will receive refunds, the company said.

Obsolete Technology: 40 Big Losers

PCWorld has put together a list of 40 activities that were once commonplace but are now heading for extinction (or already dead).

With technology evolving at breakneck speed, no one can say for sure what's around the next corner--to say nothing of the one after that. The circle of life, however, remains constant: When a new high-tech creation is born, something else may die as a result.

AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition

AMD has launched the 3.4GHz Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition processor today and there are a handful of reviews posted around the internet. We gathered up as many as we could find here but I will add more throughout the day as they come in.

Getting Paid To Shoot the Boss

More and more companies are encouraging their employees to team-build and bond by playing video games together. A team that plays together, stays together? Sounds good to me.

The scene may have been cooked up for its comedic effect, but it's no fiction that companies are turning more and more to video games as a way of building bridges between employees, or even between employees and management.
