Hurt Locker Lawyer Says Illegal Sharing Must End

Listen up all you good-for-nothin', lowdown, pirating thieves…this guy is coming for you! Quit laughing, there’s nothing scarier than a lawyer that works on commission.

Thomas Dunlap is the attorney representing at least a dozen independent movie studios, including the makers of the Oscar-winning film, "The Hurt Locker." If you illegally shared any of his clients' films online then Dunlap, a founder of the law firm Dunlap, Grubb & Weaver may have collected your Internet Protocol address. He may, at this minute, be requesting a subpoena that compels your Internet service provider to turn over your identity.

Hot Chicks at Fry's?

I know the first thing I do when I get to Fry's is scope out the heavenly hot bods over in the computer peripherals department.

SEATTLE, WA - September 29, 2010 -- National retail chain Fry’s Electronics violated state and federal laws by failing to take action against the sexual harassment of a young female employee and retaliating against her supervisor, Ka Lam, after he spoke out on her behalf. Today the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) filed lawsuit in U.S. District Court in Seattle. The Blankenship Law Firm has already filed claims in Washington state court on May 21, 2010 on Mr. Lam’s behalf and is moving to join the federal case today.

A high-level manager of Fry’s Renton, Washington store began targeting sales associate America Rios in early 2007 for sex. Even though Rios was under 21 years old at the time and had repeatedly refused his advances, the harasser continually sent her sexually charged text messages with invitations to his house and offers of alcohol.

The entire text of the PR is posted in our forums.

Digital Audio Recordings of US History Fading Fast

Remember a while back when all those old historical audio recordings, some more than a hundred years old, were transferred over to digital format to save them? Oops!

Digital files are a blessing and a curse. Sounds can be easily recorded and transferred and the files require less and less space. But the problem, Brylawski said, is they must be constantly maintained and backed up by audio experts as technology changes. That requires active preservation, rather than simply placing files on a shelf, he said.

81% of E-Mail is Spam

This infographic stating that 32 billion spam messages are sent every day in the U.S. makes me seriously sick to my stomach. Wow…that is almost fifteen trillion pieces of spam being sent every year with no real end in sight.

Beer in Space Now Possible

Space travel will never be the same now that we have zero gravity space beer. The Apollo 13 mission would have been so much easier to endure if they had space beer.

Astronauts4Hire, a non-profit space research corporation, will conduct the tests on an Australian beer that has been brewed specifically for easy drinking in both microgravity environments, as well as here on Earth.

Oracle Looks for Chipmakers to Acquire

Analyst seem to think that, of the chipmakers Oracle might buy, AMD might be prime a target. There hasn’t been any news since this story broke over the weekend and AMD’s Drew Prairie said the company doesn’t comment on rumors or speculation.

Oracle may buy a semiconductor company with technology for servers, said Doug Freedman, an analyst at Gleacher & Co. in San Francisco. Potential targets include AMD, IBM Corp.'s chip division and Nvidia Corp., he said. "You've got to think it's focused on enterprise hardware, on the server," he said. "AMD jumps off the screen."

The Pirate Bay Appeal Day 2

Day 2 of the Pirate Bay appeal is underway and it looks like the TPB crew is taking the appeal as seriously as they did the actual trial.

The second day of the trial began with the announcement that Pirate Bay co-founder Fredrik Neij is not present because he didn’t slept much last night. According to Neij’s lawyer he has been under the weather lately. He is trying to get some more sleep before coming to the court room.

No Firefox Browser for the iPhone

Firefox users hoping to get a little action on the iPhone are pretty much SOL. The dev team had this to say about the chances:

We are working to bring as much of your Firefox experience as possible to Firefox Home. People have asked about adding more browser-like features to Firefox Home, but there are technical and logistical restrictions that make it difficult, if not impossible, to build the full Firefox browser for the iPhone.
