Cell Phones Are Definitely Going To Kill You

Cell phones are once again going to kill you. Every six months it is safe / dangerous / safe / dangerous / man's best friend / bubonic plague / safe / no data / could be harmful / don't put it in your pocket next to your thingy / safe. Today, cell phones are *rolls dice* "possibly carcinogenic."

Using a mobile phone might increase the risk of developing certain types of brain tumors and consumers should consider ways of reducing their exposure, World Health Organization (WHO) cancer experts said on Tuesday. A working group of 31 scientists from 14 countries meeting at the WHO's International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) said a review of all the available scientific evidence suggested cell phone use should be classified as "possibly carcinogenic."

MSI Displays Full Arsenal of MSI Motherboard Products at COMPUTEX

More HP Notebook Batteries Recalled

HP has recalled another 160,000 batteries. The batteries are found in over 31 different models so there is a good chance some of you could be affected by this (let's hope not).

HP has voluntarily recalled an additional 162,600 lithium ion batteries used in some HP and Compaq notebooks sold between July 2007 and July 2008. The batches of batteries included with 31 models of its notebooks can "overheat and rupture, posing fire and burn hazards," according to the CPSC.

Equipped with a highvoltage stunner, video camera, laser pointer and flashlight, the armor sleeve is intended to prevent violent situations. The invention was designed by David Brown, a cameraman, editor and producer who makes a living filming musical acts such as Rage Against the Machine and Snoop Dogg, as well as behind-the-scenes movie footage for the actor Kevin Costner, a friend and BodyGuard investor.

Group Claims to be Attacking Sony, Stealing Data. Again.

I'm telling you, this stuff just isn't going to end for Sony until the hackers simply get tired of making the company look stupid and move on to another target. Who knows how long the will take. eek!

A tweet issued by the group, going by the name LulzSec, says "Hey @Sony, you know we're making off with a bunch of your internal stuff right now and you haven't even noticed? Slow and steady, guys."

Best Buy Orders Stores To Price-Match To BestBuy.com

Best Buy has sent out a notice to all its stores instructing them to STOP saying they don't price-match BestBuy.com. Here are some of the things in the memo the retailer expressly forbids:

  • Create/post their own customer-facing signage at POS registers or at the customer point of entry into the building that actively contradicts the stated policy.

  • Ask the customer to use the kiosk/ExpressLane as a way to avoid price match margin erosion.

  • Not honor a price match to BestBuy.com once a customer indicates awareness.
