Senate Likely To Revisit Cyber Bill

According to the Associated Press the Senate is planning to reintroduce cyber security legislation when Congress returns after the elections.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid hopes to reintroduce cyber security legislation opposed by business groups once lawmakers return after Tuesday's election, a Senate aide said, adding that a White House executive order might pave the way for a compromise on the bill.

How Long Did It Take To Install Windows 8?

Reading along as this guy spends almost an hour to install Windows 8 is actually painful. Not sure why his install was so slow or why he thinks installing an OS "isn't easy." Anyone have Windows 8 installed already? How long did it take you?

Let me get the bad news out of the way up front: installing personal computer operating systems isn't easy, and Windows 8 is no exception. I've installed more versions of DOS, Linux, Windows, Mac OS, OS X, Android, and iOS than I can remember over more than two decades, and the fact of the matter is that there's a basic level of technical difficulty.

Carl Icahn Buys 5.5M Netflix Shares

Looking at Mr. Icahn's track record, I'm betting he calls for Reed Hastings to step down within a month.

Billionaire investor Carl Icahn has seized on Netflix's recent troubles to build a 10 percent stake in the Internet video service. Wednesday's disclosure about Icahn's stake in Netflix Inc. caused the company's stock price to surge by 16 percent in late afternoon trading. Icahn's filing with regulators didn't specify why he decided to buy 5.5 million Netflix shares.

Facebook Fixing Timeline?

Do you hate the way your Timeline is split into two rows for no apparent reason? Well, it looks like Facebook is contemplating the switch back to a single column layout.

This layout addresses one of the common complaints about the new profile: users previously had to look back and forth on the page as they scrolled through to read their stream. Some users found the two-column layout frustrating. With this design, the line down the center has been removed, making the profile look less like a timeline.

Silverstone Heligon HE01

FrostyTech has published a review of the Silverstone Heligon HE01 heatpipe HSF today for those of you interested. You can see our evaluation here for comparison purposes.

The heatsink itself is made from a pretty common mix of nickel plated aluminum fins soldered to six 6mm diameter heatpipes. The six heatpipes converge at a chunky nickel plated copper base plate, eschewing the whole exposed-heatpipe-trend-thing. Noise wise, Heligon HE01 heatsink ranges for loud to whisper quiet. Standing 160mm tall and weighing at 1056grams, the Heligon HE01 is squarely aimed at performance cooling in a full tower case - so keep that in mind.

Reddit Worth $50 to $700 Million?

Everyone loves Reddit, I'm not sure how a website with (according to the article) "low revenue and no profit" can be worth $700 million. eek!

Looking at company incorporation papers, Forbes's George Anders estimates that the front page of the Internet, and all its seedy glory, is worth at least $240 million dollars. Where does he get that figure? Well, he looks at what its corporate owner, Advance Publications, the same company that owns The New Yorker, Vogue, and Vanity Fair, think it's worth.
