Thermaltake eSPORTS CRONOS Gaming Headset

Our friends at Overclockers Club say that, for the price, you really can't go wrong with the Thermaltake eSPORTS CRONOS gaming headset.

If you haven't taken a look at the price of the eSPORTS CRONOS yet, go gander at page 1. That's right; that $59.99 list price isn't a typo (and Amazon has them for $54). While bass-heads may be disappointed in the bass output of the CRONOS most people will have no complaints in that department. The clear and non-fatiguing sound combined with the utility of the folding earcups and interchangeable cables mesh together into a great headset that really doesn't have any drawbacks.

NSA Statement Regarding Recent Press Articles

The National Security Agency sent out a press release today (I guess we're on their mailing list now) regarding recent stories about the agency in the media:

Recent press articles on NSA’s collection operations conducted under Executive Order 12333 have misstated facts, mischaracterized NSA’s activities, and drawn erroneous inferences about those operations. NSA conducts all of its activities in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and policies – and assertions to the contrary do a grave disservice to the nation, its allies and partners, and the men and women who make up the National Security Agency.

Healthcare.gov Turning To Tech Giants For Help?

Apparently the government reaching out to the tech community for help fixing the train wreck known as Healthcare.gov. Probably should have done that before building that thing. wink

In a move that could be described by the cliché "better late than never," it appears the US government has finally reached out to the experts to fix the beleaguered Healthcare.gov. A spokeswoman for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services declared there are now "dozens of software engineers, developers, designers and analysts, who are methodically working around the clock on performance and functionality of Healthcare.gov."

HIS R9 270X IceQ X² Turbo Boost Clock 2GB

Those crazy crustaceans over at Mad Shrimps have the HIS R9 270X IceQ X² Turbo Boost Clock 2GB on the test bench today for a bit of the ol' benchmark boogey.

The new R9 270X implementation from HIS comes with a custom PCB, an award-winning cooling system which is very efficient while keeping the noise down and is also pre-overclocked. The card trades punches with the GTX 760 and succeeds to surpass it in some games which are heavily AMD optimized.

When Is It Morally Right To Kill A Zombie?

When is it morally right to kill a zombie? The obvious answer is "ANYTIME!"

So does this mean that killing zombies is a morally questionable thing? It’s a trope that often plays an important part in the narrative of zombie stories. Imagine you’re the protagonist, and you have the opportunity to kill one of the undead. But you hesitate, maybe because you recognise the zombie, or maybe because you think you see a trace of the person’s past persona in the approaching horror. That split second of indecision could be enough for you to lose the advantage, and get munched on. But you have to appreciate that hesitation. The monster in front of you was once a living, breathing person with hopes, fears and dreams.

The Hacker Who Owned Mark Zuckerberg

Wait....exploiting a bug so you can post on Mark Zuckerberg's Facebook page is considered a hacking accomplishment?

It was August 14, and Shreateh had just reached halfway around the world to pull off a prank that would make him the most famous hacker in the Israeli-occupied West Bank. He’d discovered a Facebook bug that would allow him to post to another user’s wall even if he wasn’t on the user’s friends list.
